First Lyft Experience

I had the great pleasure of celebrating a good friend's wedding in Newport Beach. My wife and I decided to get a hotel in the area, and just spend the weekend up there.

I was introduced to Lyft several months ago, when they were just launching in Orange County. I thought, "Cool. Why not? I'll download the app." Several months pass, and I still had not used the service. Until this weekend. It was a great opportunity, we didn't have far to go, and definitely didn't want to drive.

Here's how it unfolded. I opened the app, tapped on Request Lyft. Before I could even punch in the destination, I received a call from the driver. Wow, that was quick. Answered the call, he introduced himself and said he was on his way. Great! I proceed to type in the destination. By the time I get to the lobby, he is there waiting with the pink mustache on his car.

Other than the fantastic conversation we had in the short 10 minute ride, I really enjoyed the transaction process - there is none! Well, not between myself and the driver. It's completed entirely through the app. What a great experience! I can wait till I have a moment, open Lyft, see how much it costs, add tip if I choose, and I'm done. Simple.

Now this is a review about Lyft in particular, not ridesharing services in general. I know Uber is the other, much more popular service. I almost dismissed Lyft due to my previous experiences with Uber (let's just say I never actually got to use the service, though I tried several times), but glad I didn't. For me, Lyft was a much easier process, from start to finish.
