Patience is the Word

Just over a month ago (late June), we decided to add a new member to our family, Ichigo. Ichigo is an 18 week old Shiba Inu pup.

Aww, so cute. But wait, don't let that adorable face fool you! Those of you who either own a shiba, or are familiar with the breed, know what I'm talking about.

As a first time dog owner, I clearly did not know what I was getting into. Yes, I read all the clear warnings about how "challenging" shibas can be, due to their strong-willed personality. In spite of all that, my wife and I still decided to get one.

A lesson in patience it has been! Understanding Ichigo is a day to day puzzle - we think we have him figured out one day, and he completely changes the next. From potty training, to sleeping, eating and playing. Don't get me wrong, this dog is loads of fun, and his personality is a blast - but we, just as much as he, are tired out by the end of the day.

All I can say is, I sure hope this is good practice for raising a (real) kid!

More adventures to come, for sure. But now I've gotta get back to attending to Ichigo.
